Police surveillance at Midvalley`megamall?

Referring to a recent case of purse snatching at Jusco Midvalley...can't the plainclothes cops do something like demanding the mall's management to view the CCTV..even after they were led to the actual scene where the snatching took place- ladies department.?... at least the culprits could still be traced from the CCTV and a search for them be done, despite the massive size and the 3 courts of the megamall....and to worsen the whole traumatic experience, the security guards of Jusco were not emphatic enough to even bring us to see the management. They simply unshouldered the responsibility of curbing the situatiuon and brought us to the police kiosk at the basement...more to add to the misery......After the routine report was typed and printed...we were asked to 'jumpa pegawai penyiasat' ( see a private investigator) at Brickfields police station....there...the worse was yet to happen....on reaching there, we were greeted rudely... and we had to walk up the 3 floors of unlighted staircase ( time then was 8.15 pm ) to see the 'pegawai penyiasat' .... here comes the 'grand finale'....the private investigator told us to bring the written report to the 'balai' downstairs, pay rm2, then photo copies with endossed 'ceritified copies' on the report would be produced - for application of a new smartcard and replacements for new atm and credit cards, among the things listed in the stolen purse, besides cash of RM1036.60 cts.. There was no concrete answer to the question of cctv at jusco...'"nothing we can do -Midvalley ni memang panas sikit la...kes ragut2 ni memang biasa"....oh, a little bit more about the rude greeting we had earlier ....my friend took note of the 'sentry's' name and number and he uttered cynical remarks when my friend told him of her profession as a reporter.
so folks out there, besides being careful while shopping at midvalley or any other malls....if this unfortunate thing may happen to u...can i say...demand for just a little more from the police surveillance....just a .little more than them just walking up and down and witnessing the victims cry?

firtly, i feel very sorry for what had happen to you. hope & wish you to be strong. look at the bright side that you are still in one piece, nothing happen to you physically. though emotionally....difficult for me to say (only you knows).
secondly,i might be wrong, but reality is almost all shopping complexs' management refuse to take any proactive measures to curb the unhealthty activities done by the uncivilised person. it always end up the victims is at fault for not taking care their belongins.as human we do sometime careless but if there are signages everywhere elerting shoppers to safeguard their belongings, the crime could be curbed.
thirdly, i guess because you are not 'somebody' that's what you got from the government servant who have "sedia berkhidmat" badge on their uniform.
generally it's an attitude, they don't care about others accept for themselves. they never know that life is like a wheel where you will not always be at the top.

Saadiah,
It's good that u r having ur own blog. A way of fast interraction. My early comment is that u r good on saying things out. U placed ur matters well.

Ur expression displays soul and real context of human. That's good for a journalistic writing. It's only the format now and the 5W's and 1H that should be pronouced correctly. And to be a BJ doing stand up u have to select ur views and plot point.

I like the idea of giving the right picture how u r being treated at the police station. Make everyone on their side or on ur side to be aware that someone is paid to serve the public. Keep on focussing on that. Be brave and consistent. No fear as u r telling the truth. Remember Karam Singh Wallia that i told u. He is remembered because he fight for justice.

Keep on updating ur blog not only when ur course assignment is concerned only. One fine time, we shall meet to further explore what broadcast journalism is all about.

A good and creative momento of u in ur blog. I m happy 4 that.

i think for the police its a case of too many things to do and too little resources to do it. rampant crime that's been going on have desensitize police personnel to the plight of the victims and they become just another statistics to be fed into the bureaucratic machine to be processed and if your documents are not in order, sorry!! the machine for you here. policeman got to stop being a bureaucratic machine handler. processes and procedures to run police business cannot be bigger than the business itself and if it gets in the way of police being policeman and victims got victimized at the police station often enough, then fixed the burreaucracy or throw it out of the window altogether. police top brass should be a seasoned exponent of Sun Tzu Art of War.. when your force is small by deception make it seems bigger or so Sun Tzu said, he really put fear of god in his enemies even though his forces are smaller by making them think that he can really wallop them. the police top brass are just not creative enough or sophisticated enough. They always use brute force to solve problem.. more money to buy stuffs get more people, bla, bla, bla.

as for the mall management its the question of economics. they can have more cameras, hire kick-ass security guards like the gurkhas for example not the listless sleepy type they have now and get all the good stuffs, but it will cost and the ecomomics will go ballistics. mall have to raise their rent, which lead to retailers raising their prices, which lead to customer paying more for things they, buy which lead to customer stop buying which lead to retailers losing business and cannot pay rent, wich leat to mall owner cannot collect rent and defaulting on their bank loan, which lead to bank having bad debts. now this is one snatch theft at one mall and it happen to all malls If we extrapolate the trend to all malls then we have a lot of banks giving loans for development of malls will be having bad debts. bank negara will probably have to step in to stop loans from becoming bad loan by discouraging banks from giving loans and people from borrowing, they usually do this by increasing interest rates. this will put barrier to borrowing and when people cannot borrow they have no
money, and when they have no money they cannot develop malls and probably other developments too because snatch theft also happens in those other places. the stock market will nose dive, there will be no or negative growth, coupled this with the the probably coming inflation due the recent steep increase in oil price and sure to follow increase in price of everything, whoaa..!!!! we got a recession, then eveybody will be in shit. i don't envy pak lah, he'll be in deeper shit than he's already in.

difficult problem to solve this snatch theft problem and never ever thought snatch theft problem can snowball into economic recession :). penin paler la mikior.. the easiest thing i think is to keep our eye wide open when shopping in crowed places.

TIME

There are times

when reminiscences of yesteryears

will drown me in tears

of misdeeds...cliche's. ..charades...n camouflage

of wasted days...grievances

and of sheer bliss...pure rapture!...euphoria. ..reality denied

an everlasting 'heaven on earth’

but time, unfeeling time

disclaim reversion of those paces

Alas!!...I have to go on

yet to efface the memoirs of yesterday

is beyond my will

I can only veil souvenies of eternal memories

embedded in my heart

and relish those deja' vu

Its time again...for me to portray perspectives

in myriads of colours

For Life's own...isnt just a single ray of hue

TIME...they say

heals all wounds...Time...d best therapy

for ailments of emotions

Time again..is the antidote...for all woes

Thus, im giving in to TIME

letting time takes its pace

learning now not to dwell on bygones

of joys we've reached...& of joys that never really were!

just a make believe...of castles & gardens u made me see

....a mirage!!! ...an illusion

I was stung...down..slain

but now im up on my feet and walking again

starting anew....given a new strength

to prod on...taking life as it comes

'cos things did & do happen for reasons

with blessings in disguise thereafter

as depicted & wirtten in our life lines

Life...without this prism of colours

isnt a life to start with

and TIME...its reigning factor

TIME...and only time

withholds the answers

to questions unanswered...Que Sera Sera!!

in retrospect : composed: 31 January 2008

( in memory of sumthin' worth remembering )
